Very TLC Sun Lovin’ Malibu Barbie Superstar Face Mattel Taiwan Loving

In this listing we have a very TLC version of Sun Lovin’ Malibu Barbie. This doll was released by Mattel in 1978 as part of their Malibu line. She is a lovely doll that has a deep tan skin tone, bright blonde hair with a side part, large blue eyes, and light pink lips. She uses the Superstar face mold and her makeup is very similar to the original Superstar face, but with a Malibu twist! She is articulated at the neck (left and right movement only), the shoulders, the waist, the hips, and has clicking knees. This doll was made in Taiwan. Check out those tan lines!
This doll is in rough shape. However, there’s still some life left in her. Her hair is okay, she does have some broken strands, it’s very soft. At the front of her part line it has been cut short, on both sides. The hair there is about 1 cm long. One of the great things about this dolls is that her head is still soft. A lot of these dolls their heads shrink and get hard, this doll does not have this issue. Her face paint has some issues. There is some minor paint wear and chipping to both eyebrows, but it is pretty small. She is missing a section of paint in eyeshadow in both of her eyes. There are some minor paint imperfections in both eyes. There is wear and missing paint on her lips, the worst being on her lower lip. On the left side of her teeth she has some green paint on them. It looks like the same color as her eyeshadow so it could be a factory flaw, but it could also be a kid. There’s a small bump of raised vinyl on her left earlobe. Her body also has a lot of issues. She does have a lot of scratches and scuffs to her body. Her painted tan lines are very worn. She’s got scuffs to both breasts and the tip of the right breast is worn away. If you look at the doll’s torso up close you can see some weird crazing on both the breasts and the doll’s abdomen. It doesn’t seem to be in danger of cracking, just like the surface is all crazed. Never seen that before. There’s some deeper scratches on the back. The doll’s waist joint is a little off. Her upper torso is wider than her lower torso, so there’s an overhang. The doll’s arms have a lot of scratches and scuffs. There’s noticeable seam lines and some excess plastic on the seam. The doll’s legs are a darker color than the rest of the doll. Her knees are actually really good. They bend twice and hold a pose. She’s got a lot of chews to both feet and some black dirt stuck into the holes in her feet. There’s a lot of dark stains to the doll’s legs. On the back of the doll’s right thigh there’s some small gouges to the doll’s leg. Please examine all picture of this doll to see the exact issue and please remember some of these issues are not visible in pictures. She is very TLC.
